Dr. Anna Wright Stowell is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been practicing psychology since earning her PhD from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1997 and receiving licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners since 1998 (30764). Dr. Stowell then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Substance Abuse at the Dallas VA. Dr. Stowell is also licensed by PSYPACT to practice telepsychology in participating states, Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT/E.Passport 6867),

Dr. Stowell has worked in private practice, as well as served in the past as an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern, where she was jointly appointed in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Pain Management, Psychiatry, and Rehabilitation Counseling. She has been a co-investigator of a National Institutes of Health research grant, both at UT Southwestern and as a Faculty Researcher at The University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Stowell is also a prolific researcher and writer in the area of health psychology as it pertains to acute and chronic pain conditions. She has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal publications, co-authored 5 book chapters, and served on or chaired 16 doctoral dissertations and masters’ theses. She has also lectured on these topics.
